Happy Halloween! I racked my brain for a healthy tsnack to hand out to all of the young princesses and power rangers that came to my door and came up empty handed. I gave in, went to Walmart and bought candy. As the trick or treaters wandered from door to door, inside we baked more pumpkin seeds, this time baking them with salt. They tasted so great, but I have to remember to drink more water to offset the salt. We took time to look through old family pictures and laugh at the past hair styles and wardrobe choices. I love looking at the past, because it seems like it was just yesterday. Life flies by so quickly and this makes me think of all the opportunities that are given to us. I am not talking about Arbonne, but think about it. In any given day you make hundreds of decisions and each can take your day in a different direction. I know that for me, I often make decisions based on fear of the wrong outcome. I just decided that I am done with that. I am going to seize every opportunity and live life to the fullest. One thing that I do not want to do is look back at my life when I am ninety five and have so many regrets. I want to live my life knowing that God will lead me where I need to go and when I am given an opportunity, I will take it! The future is so bright and holds so many unseen chances to better our lives. Take each day in a new light and never let opportunities pass you by!!
Today is day nineteen of my fifth month on 30 Days to Fit. This morning I was searching pinterest, my newest obsession, and I found a new workout regimen. The short but intense workout is as follows:
30 Jumping Jacks
25 High Knees
7 Burpees (squat, jump into plank position, push-up, jump into a squat, and then jump with hands raised into the air)
30 Jumping Jacks
1 Minute Wall Sit
25 High Knees
Repeat two or three times for maximum results.
I did this workout and it wore me out!! I told myself I would do the routine through three times, but I finished with two rounds and decided I will go for three tomorrow. 🙂 I have fallen in love with pinterest, not only for the exercise regimens, but also for all the yummy recipes. Now there are many recipes that include foods that we should stay away from, but that is where modifying the recipe comes into play! I love taking a recipe and making it my own. Even if the recipe is within the 30 Days to Fit parameters, I love to take a recipe and put my own spin on it! Tonight I took the pumpkin seeds and baked them in the oven with some cinnamon and stevia and… YUM! Let me confess, the pumpkin seeds are a little high calorie for losing weight, and I forgot to look up that information before consuming them, but anyway the seeds are about one hundred and twenty calories in half of a cup. That sounds a little excessive to me, but I could only eat about a quarter cup, and it was festive! I love the holidays! Have I mentioned that? 😉
I love the holidays, all of the festive decorations and lights. Ok, the skeletons and gravestones kinda freak me out, but other than that I love halloween! Growing up we really didn’t decorate for holidays. This year my little sister and I went to Huber’s Farm and picked out a pumpkin for each of us. There were hundreds to choose from, big, tall, fat, skinny; how do I choose the right one? As my eyes gazed across the green and brown stems, I felt slightly overwhelmed, until I spotted the perfect one. Not too tall, but tall enough, not too fat but fat enough. As we carried our pumpkins back to the wagon, I thought my arms were going to fall off! We weighed our pumpkins and both were well over twenty pounds!! Tonight I had the opportunity to carve a pumpkin for the first time. I lit my mandarin pomegranate holiday candle, printed a stencil off the internet, and started hacking away. As I popped out the pieces of the front of the pumpkin and the picture came together, I started to get excited. I think it turned out really well! On Wednesday I look forward to passing out candy… wait! I just realized that candy probably isn’t the best thing to hand out. What do you give to children if you do not hand out candy? Ideas?
Today I went to a Health and Wellness Retreat at Dominique Hendren’s farm. Dominique is a National Vice President with Arbonne and once a month she puts together a retreat in conjunction with Eunice Ray, Pam Leveritt and I. What I love so much about Arbonne, is the Arbonne spirit. People from different teams come together and present product that can truly change lives. Pam created a spread with a beautiful tossed salad, minestrone soup and a couple of different protein bar recipes. She put together a pumpkin protein bar that is absolutely to die for. It was a pumpkin spiced bar with flax-seed, oats, and when all together it tasted sweet like pumpkin pie. I have really enjoyed the chocolate bar recipe but I think I have found a new favorite!!
With Thanksgiving coming up, I am getting excited about our annual dessert party. In years past, our dessert party consisted of cookies, cakes, truffles, and a every flavor of pie imaginable. Since I started 30 Days to Fit, my mind keeps going to our Thanksgiving dessert party. I have found a few recipes like a gluten-free, dairy free chocolate cake, or the pumpkin power balls on my recipe page, and now I have the pumpkin protein bars. They are sweet and Pam said I should cut them with a cookie cutter and top them with fruit for show. I love searching through food blogs, it is kind of a hobby of mine. Every year Americans binge on their Thanksgiving feast and every worries about gaining ten pounds. This year I am going to try have a protein shake for breakfast, turkey, sweet potatoes and roasted squash for lunch, and a shake for dinner. You do not have to binge and feel sick for days, you can choose to eat well and look great. Throughout the retreat today, the saying kept popping into my head, “Change your palate, change your life” My life is forever changed!
I had a revelation today! I was talking to a few people today and diet logs came up in every conversation. I started looking into diet logs and there are many people who elaborate all of the benefits of keeping a food log. I know that in my first few month on 30 Days to Fit, I was unsure of how to eat and what I was supposed to eat. What is a food log? It’s simple, in a small notebook write down all the food that you consume, not only meals but all snacks in between. I wrote down every morsel that passed my lips and even though I felt a little silly I was able to catch myself if I was tempted to cheat. Also, if I gained weight I was able to look and see what the problem may be. Other than a food log being simple to keep, a diet log can help you track your progress. In my log I kept track of weight lost, inches lost, and also different cravings I experienced. It is easy for me to look at my log and to be proud of my journey. I plan on keeping my log until I have reached my goal weight to encourage people around me or to have as a great testimony. One study I read said that people who keep diet logs lose an average of six extra pounds than people who do not keep a log while trying to lose weight. I am not saying that you should keep a log forever, but it may be a great idea to start on 30 Days to Fit and to keep you on track. Another thing I realized today is that I have not shared one large secret of my success. Every night for dinner I have four ounces of meat with vegetables. How do you measure this? A food scale! My scale is made with two pieces, the base was the scale and the other is a square cup to hold the food. One saying I hear often, “A correct portion of meat is the size of the palm of your hand.” The only problem, that I see, is that there are different thickness in different meats and everyone has different size palms. Maybe I am being over-cautious, but I always measure the weight of my meat to have only four ounces. I have found that the more precise you are with 30 Days to Fit the more success you can experience. After a few months of measuring and weighing foods, you start to be able to tell how much meat is four ounces. I love that 30 Days to Fit has prepared me to eat correctly for the rest of my life. I plan on enjoying a breakfast shake every morning for the rest of my life, just to maintain eating healthy. This new way of eating is a perfect way for anyone to ensure health and wellness for the rest of your life! Who wouldn’t want that, right?
Today marks the half way point through my fifth month on 30 Days to Fit. Today is a great day! I want to share with you a secret to Arbonne. I received an email from my up line titled ten truths for new consultants, and two stood out to me. The first was you must have a minimum of six to eight presentations a month to grow momentum. The longer I am in the process of building my business, the more I find this is true. Everytime I have a presentation I meet new people and everyone I talk to is a possibility of a new group of prospects. Does that make sense? I absolutely love getting the chance to share with new people, and every presentation I have, I find new people who want to host a gathering for me. The second truth that caught my eye was that you have to be willing to go out of your comfort zone. I have found that many people tell me, “I am not a sales person.” or “I can’t talk in front of people” The great thing is, I am not a sales person either and I used to be terrified to talk in front of people. You see, when I first started Arbonne I fell in love with the product and decided to tell my friends about it. I decided I wanted others to benefit from Arbonne like I have. And when I gather people around the kitchen table to talk in front of them, I sit and read a script. Everything you are to say when you are standing in front of people is written out for you. My up line always says, “If you can read, you can build a business in Arbonne.” The are so many possibilities with Arbonne and countless success stories of people who skyrocketed to the top of the company and their businesses are still thriving today. I know that if you dive in and give it all you’ve got, your business with grow momentum very quickly and I bet you will be surprised at the sense of family you find within Arbonne. Arbonne has become my home and I want to invite you to join my team. I am headed to the top-level in Arbonne and I would love to take you with me. Dive in today and give it all you’ve got!
Can I tell you about my day? I started my day by making guacamole for my little sister. After I handmade a huge batch and put it in a nice crystal bowl, the bowl fell from my hands and shattered sending guacamole sky-high. Next I delivered the guac and on the way home I heard a loud pop followed by a loud rumble. Surprise… flat tire on the side of the road, but no problem I have another car at home right? I arrived home slightly frustrated and hopped into my car and as I turned my key… silence. My car is dead. Great! My pastor was nice enough to come and jump my car and I thought the night would be better when we hooked up the jumper cables and nothing happened. YAY My sister and I decided to walk to Meijers across the street to do our grocery shopping and halfway there, I fell and sprained my ankle. Tonight is good. My pastor got a friend and took me out to get my car on the side of the Snyder and first we found the car was dead, as we unloaded the trunk to get the spare we found the trunk would not close. We gave in and called AAA and when the man arrived he told us the spare was flat. Thankfully he was able to pump air and hopefully it will hold. We next went to Ken Towerys to fix the flat tire, and they are closed. I cannot stop thinking about my white Mercedes that Arbonne will pay for when I make Regional Vice President. Did you know that at that level, Arbonne gives you $800 above and beyond your paycheck, just for driving a nice car. It is funny, growing up I have always dreamed of owning a white Mercedes! I think they are such beautiful cars. If you work hard with Arbonne, you will have the car in no time. You should really give starting your business a try. Think about it: If you could have any white Mercedes-Benz, what model would you drive?
